Job Title: Principal

We expect any individual hired for the Principal position to step in and immediately impact all aspects of the business, including managing consulting projects, developing new business, helping to build Innosight’s intellectual property, and shaping firm strategy.

Responsibilities:
Managing multiple consulting projects. Principals are expected to be able to manage multiple client projects by providing guidance and thought-leadership to project teams.

Facilitating executive education programs. Innosight runs workshops designed to educate managers on the principles of innovation. A principal will contribute to these efforts by leading sessions and guiding content development.

Developing new business. Principals work with partners to actively pursue new business. This includes identifying opportunities for continued client engagement, identifying new leads, writing proposals and cultivating long-term client relationships.

Contributing to intellectual property through codifying case-based learning in ways that enhance internal knowledge transfer.

Qualifications:
Passion for innovation. Self-starter that can thrive in unstructured entrepreneurial environment. Top-flight problem structuring and solving ability. Ability to creatively scan industries for emerging opportunities, conceive of new products and services and develop commercialization plans. Comfortable and effective in meetings with senior management teams. High levels of self-confidence and influence skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Thought leadership and intellectual curiosity. Clear potential to contribute to client development activities. Experience coaching/developing direct reports/junior staff.

Experience:
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, PhD) with 5+ years consulting experience in a top-flight consulting firm or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years consulting experience in a top-flight consulting firm or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex client projects and project teams and developing client relationships. Experience in corporate management, venture capital, or entrepreneurial endeavors is a plus.

Job Title: Manager

Innosight works closely with senior management teams to help identify and commercialize high-potential innovations, using the theories of disruptive innovation. Innosight is looking for a few exceptional candidates to join us as Managers in our Watertown, MA offices.

The manager’s primary responsibility is to manage consulting projects.
In this role, a manager is expected to manage the day-to-day work on project teams. Specifically, managers would:

  • Lead problem structuring, analysis and synthesis
  • Develop a detailed work plan for the entire project
  • Oversee the qualitative and quantitative research efforts of 1-3 junior employees on a team, which may include interviews, focus groups, surveys, secondary research, analysis and synthesis
  • Interact closely with client teams
  • Facilitate brainstorming and client training sessions
  • Present findings to clients

Managers also lead the development of hypotheses that will help clients solve their innovation related business challenges. Lead and advance intellectual property development/consulting offerings through client work. Contribute to the individual professional development of junior employees.

Additionally the manager has the opportunity to:
Facilitate executive education programs. Innosight runs workshops designed to educate managers on the principles of innovation. A manager contributes to these efforts by managing content development, presenting pieces of the content and facilitating parts of the workshop.
Assist with business development. Managers work closely with principals and partners to help develop new business. This includes identifying opportunities for continued client engagement as well as identifying new leads.
Contribute to Innosight publications. Innosight produces a bimonthly printed newsletter called Strategy & Innovation, a supplementary email newsletter called “Innovator’s Insights” and maintains an innovation blog. Managers can actively contribute to these publications through writing articles and leading research efforts.
Contribute to knowledge management efforts. Innosight is continually improving its IP and knowledge management systems. Managers are expected to contribute to these efforts through research, writing and synthesis of project work.

Qualifications:
Superior ability to use reason, logic and creativity to solve ambiguous problems. Capacity to manage projects, structure ambiguous problems, generate clear work plans and lead junior employees. Thought leadership and intellectual curiosity. Self-starter that can thrive in unstructured environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Comfortable, effective and influential in meetings with senior management teams. High levels of self-confidence. Ability to perform well in a collaborative, team environment. Top notch interviewing skills. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Title: Senior Associate

Innosight works closely with senior management teams to help identify and commercialize high-potential innovations, using the theories of disruptive innovation. Innosight is seeking a number of Senior Associates to work in its Watertown, MA-based office.

The Senior Associate’s primary responsibility is to play a critical role in supporting the Manager and driving results on consulting projects. In this role, the Senior Associate would be expected to:

Work with a team to form hypotheses that will help clients solve their innovation-related business challenges. Structure a storyline around a particular stream of work. Develop a detailed work plan for a particular stream of work. Oversee analysis and drive results for a particular stream of work. Perform qualitative and quantitative research to advance Innosight’s intellectual property while helping to solve the client’s problem. This may include:

  • Facilitating brainstorming sessions with client team
  • Performing qualitative research such as interviews, focus groups and ethnographic observation
  • Developing and administering online surveys
  • Conducting Internet and database research
  • Analyzing and synthesizing results

Senior Associates also work with the team’s manager to determine what recommendations to make to the client. Develop PowerPoint slides and/or other output to synthesize and describe findings. Present findings at client meetings.

Additional responsibilities may include:
Facilitate executive education programs. Innosight runs workshops designed to educate managers on the principles of innovation. A Senior Associate may contribute to these efforts by:

  • Managing content development, e.g. presentation deck, case study development, industry research, learning exercises/tools, participant surveys and interviews
  • Presenting content and facilitating large group discussions
  • Facilitating small group discussions/learning exercises and coaching participants during the workshop

Contributing to Innosight publications. Innosight produces a bimonthly printed newsletter called Strategy & Innovation, a supplementary email newsletter called “Innovator’s Insights” and maintains an innovation blog. The individual will have opportunities to actively contribute to these publications through research and/or writing.
Contributing to knowledge management efforts. Innosight is continually improving its knowledge management systems and senior associates would be expected to contribute to these efforts through research, writing and synthesis of project work.

Job Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in a relatively unstructured, entrepreneurial environment. Must have high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to self-motivate and self-manage. Knowledge of Christensen’s theories. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Finely tuned analytical skills with strong ability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Thought leadership and intellectual curiosity.

Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from top-tier undergraduate program and potentially 1 to 3 years experience in management consulting, investment banking or venture capital.

Job Title: Analyst

Innosight works closely with senior management teams to help identify and commercialize high-potential innovations, using the theories of disruptive innovation. Innosight is seeking Analysts to work in our Watertown, MA offices.

The analyst’s primary responsibility is to work on consulting projects. In this role, an analyst would be expected to:

Work with a team to diagnose the innovation-related needs and organizational challenges of clients and industries. Gather, analyze, and synthesize primary and secondary research and data which may include:

  • Internet and database searches
  • Analyzing company financials and internal data
  • Assisting with qualitative research such as interviews, focus groups and ethnographic observation
  • Assisting with execution and analysis of quantitative research

Analyst also work with a team to ideate and develop new product and business ideas. Support the team’s manager in developing specific recommendations for the client. Develop PowerPoint slides and/or other output to synthesize and describe findings. Present findings at client meetings.

Other responsibilities may include:
Supporting executive training programs. Innosight runs workshops designed to educate managers on the principles of innovation. An analyst may contribute to these efforts by supporting content development (e.g., writing brief case studies, performing industry research, conducting interviews), presenting material, and facilitating group, where appropriate.
Contributing to Innosight publications. Innosight produces a bimonthly printed newsletter called Strategy & Innovation, a supplementary email newsletter called “Innovator’s Insights” and maintains an innovation blog. The individual will have opportunities to actively contribute to these publications and advance Innosight’s intellectual property through research and/or writing.
Supporting knowledge management efforts. Innosight is continually improving its knowledge management systems and analysts would have the opportunity to contribute to these efforts through research and writing and synthesis of project work.

Job Qualifications:
Ability to use reason, logic and creativity to solve ambiguous problems. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Proven ability to effectively conduct secondary and/or primary research. Ability to thrive in a relatively unstructured environment. Must have high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to self-motivate and self-manage. Ability to perform well in a collaborative, team environment. Intellectual curiosity and interest in consulting. Interest in Clayton Christensen’s theories of disruptive innovation. Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. Interviewing skills a plus.

Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from top undergraduate program. Demonstrated interest in innovation.
