Innosight Ventures is the strategic investment arm of Innosight Consulting. In evaluating which early stage products and companies to support, we leverage more than 20 years of applied research by Innosight co-founder Clayton Christensen as well as field work by our parent company. We have distilled that work into a set of proprietary tools and work practices that allow us to quickly screen opportunities and work side-by-side with entrepreneurs to guide their disruptive journey.
Generally speaking, we ask five questions about any potential investment:
- Is there an important problem that customers can't address because existing solutions are too expensive?
- Is there a disruptive way to solve the problem by being simpler, more convenient?
- Can we design an economically attractive, scalable business model?
- Does the team have the know-how to manage the process of emergent learning?
- Can early profitability be a choice?
The Innosight Ventures portfolio contains startup companies selected for their disruptive potential, and it includes companies funded through IDEAS Ventures, the investment fund we manage on behalf of the Singapore government. For more info, see the Innosight Ventures website.

Guaranteach is an online math tutor that teaches math concepts using very short 2 to 3 minute video lessons. Videos are recorded by dozens of different tutors and there are multiple videos to teach any given concept. This means that it gives students a chance to learn from many different perspectives. This is an affordable and effective way to learn math, and reduces the required study time to understand a topic. In July of 2011, Guaranteach was successfully sold to online learning leader Sophia and rebranded as Sophia Pathways see http://www.guaranteach.com
